Script Readability Analyzer

It uses the Flesch Reading Ease formula, which combines your average sentence length and average syllables per word into a score from 0 to 100. Higher scores mean text that is easier to read and say out loud.

For scripts meant to be read aloud, aim for 60 or above — roughly an 8th to 9th grade reading level that most audiences follow comfortably. Educational or technical scripts can run lower, but shorter sentences always help delivery.

The grade level is the Flesch–Kincaid Grade, an estimate of the U.S. school grade needed to understand your text on the first read. A grade of 8 means a typical 8th grader would follow it easily.

Keep most sentences under 20 words, swap long multi-syllable words for shorter everyday ones, and read your script out loud — anywhere you stumble is a line worth simplifying.
