Use the web editor when you want to write or rehearse without installing anything. Use Desktop when you need the overlay hidden from a share, or when you want to record the lesson or product walkthrough on this computer.
How the pieces work together
A typical path looks like this. Draft the outline online. Open the same script on Desktop. Turn on the invisible overlay so you can still read while you share or record. If you are explaining a product, a course module, or a tutorial, start the built-in recorder from Desktop instead of jumping to another capture app. Voice tracking is optional: use it when you want the script to follow your speech, or scroll manually when you prefer full control.
